Mary Margaret is a Fashion Expert and TV Personality with twenty-five years of experience in the New York City fashion industry.
NYC Fashion Roots:
Mary Margaret knew that she was born into the fashion world when her grandmother, a seamstress in New York City’s historic Garment District, made her choose from leftover scraps of the highest quality fabrics to repurpose into little dresses, pants, and even faux fur coats. Mary was the only kid on her Queens, NY block with actual couture, designed and sewn by Angelina Valentino, her hero.
Throughout her career, Mary Margaret has worked across editorial, showroom design, sales, and marketing environments, collaborating with some of the industry’s most creative minds.
After taking a hiatus to raise her two children as a single mom — one of whom is on the autism spectrum — she returned to the industry with a renewed passion, determined to carve out a space that celebrates individuality, quality, and kindness.
Key Collaborations and Achievements:
Mary Margaret’s expertise has led her to style a variety of high-profile moments. She recently styled Marla Mindelle and Claire Camp for the London premiere of Titanique.
She also hosted and emceed a sold-out fashion show fundraiser for the 343 Fund, a charity honoring fallen first responders, where she conducted red carpet interviews and infused the evening with her signature energy and style.
In her work for Good Night New York, Mary Margaret styled four models for a live segment, curating individual looks that were as stunning on their own as they were cohesive on stage.
Defining Unique Styling Philosophy:
As a proud member of Generation X, Mary Margaret understands that her peers are ready for their “second act.” But this time, they’re doing it on their own terms. “I don’t want my clients looking like everyone else coming out of a department store, styled by someone making a commission on a limited variety of inventory,” she explains. Instead, her approach is deeply personal — finding pieces that speak to the client’s individuality while ensuring they feel empowered, confident, and entirely themselves.
Mary Margaret’s own style journey informs her work. “At my age, even though I’m still experimenting, I know what is flattering and what isn’t. I know what makes me feel in my power and what doesn’t. That’s what I want for my clients — to feel undeniably themselves in what they wear.”
Professional Milestones and Leadership:
Mary Margaret has become a sought-after Fashion Expert, with appearances on MAX, FX, HULU, JTV, NBC, CBS, and Style Network, along with features in Scholastic Parent Magazine, First for Women Magazine, and BELLA Magazine. She was most recently tapped to represent NYC Fashion in The NYC Field Guide: How to Thrive in the Five, created by the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment.
Her commitment to kindness and sustainability in fashion led her to trademark her motto, #KeepFashionKind™, a mission that guides both her work and the partnerships she cultivates.
A Life in Full Color:
Beyond her career, Mary Margaret is the proud mother of two children, Giovanni and Jacqueline. Together, they live in TriBeCa, NYC, and frequently escape to Woodstock and Vermont for hiking and campfire s’mores. Mary Margaret is also engaged to Adrien, whom she met working in Starbucks in 1998 and dated at that time. The stuff of Hallmark Movies!
In October 2024, Mary Margaret was diagnosed with stage 3C ovarian cancer — a life-altering moment that revealed her unwavering resilience. According to those in her circle, she faced the journey with grace and bravery, supported by an incredible extended family, friends, and the fashion community that stepped up when she needed them the most. Remarkably, Mary Margaret continued to work throughout surgery recovery and chemotherapy infusions. From consulting in showrooms during fashion market weeks to styling personal clients and supporting her beloved designer friends during NYFW, she continuously ‘showed up’ — not just for her career, but for her children, her fiancé, and, for the first time in her life, herself. Prioritizing her health became a skill she had to learn quickly, and one she embraced with the same determination she brings to every facet of her life.
In the city, you’ll often find her attending the theatre, exploring museums and galleries, antiquing, and diving deeper into New York City’s rich history — because for Mary Margaret, fashion is never just about clothes. It’s about stories, identity, and showing up in the world as the best version of yourself.
